Revision of FLSA Rules to be published in July.

The current proposed rule changes to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) are a major concern for employers.

Even "white collar" salaried employees that are currently exempt from overtime compensation because they are classified as "executive, administrative or professional" would have to be reclassified as "wage and hour" employees unless they earn an annual salary of around $50,000 per year under the proposed rule changes.  The Department of Labor's Solicitor General, Patricia Smith announced  on February 17 that the Final Rule regarding the FLSA White Collar Exemption Regulations will be published in July 2016, with and effective date 60 days later. To adjust to these new requirements employers must review possible changes to their compensation structures as soon as possible.
