Brian Mooty is a member of the law firm of Kavanagh, Scully, Sudow, White and Frederick P.C.

Brian was admitted to the practice of law in Illinois in 1986. He concentrates his practice in real estate law and represents both buyers and sellers of residential and commercial real estate. Brian also assists many clients with commercial real estate issues including sales and acquisitions, leasing, property tax assessments and exemptions, development, subdivisions, zoning, environmental problems and status of title and title insurance. Brian's real estate practice also includes public housing and the development of mixed finance affordable housing and local government law. Brian's firm is an agent of the Attorneys Title Guarantee Fund and he has personally acted as title agent on numerous transactions and has issued many real estate title commitments and title policies as a title agent. He has an extensive practice assisting landlords with leasing and evictions. Brian also represents condominium and homeowners associations.

Professional Memberships:  the Peoria County Bar Association (Member: Real Estate Committee (Chairman, Real Estate Committee, 1994-95 and 2002-03), and the Continuing Legal Education Committee (1990-present, Chairman 2004-05 and the joint PCBA Peoria Area Realtors Association Contract Committee); Illinois State Bar Association (Member: Real Estate Section Council 1998-2004, assistant editor of the Real Property Law Section Council News Letter 2004-05); Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association, the Housing and Development Law Institute, an Associate Member of the Peoria Area Realtor's Association, and the National Apartment Association (NAA attorney for review of the NAA lease forms for compliance with Illinois law).

Publications: Chapter 18, Easements and Licenses, in Residential Real Estate (IICLE 2003) and Chapter 8, The Illinois Responsible Property Transfer Act, in Environmental Law for Transactional Attorneys (IICLE 2001), Brian is also a regular contributor on business legal issues for InterBusiness Issues.

Current/Past Affiliations or Offices Held:

Brian also serves on the executive committee of the neighborhood House and is a Board member of the City of Peoria's Designated Zone Organization.

Brian has been active in the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce and a graduate of the Chamber's Community Leadership School and Political Action School, Brian served as a Chamber Ambassador, as a member of the Chamber's Government committee. Brian was also a member of the Peoria Jaycees for several years including serving as the chapter's Management Vice President. Brian has also been a volunteer for the Nature Conservancy. He is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Peoria and his family is a member of Illinois Wildlife Prairie State Park and Lakeview Museum.
